Sean Kingston has reacted to reports of his Florida home being raided by authorities.
According to TMZ, agents from the Broward Sheriff’s Office raided Kingston’s home in Southwest Ranches, Florida, on Thursday, May 23. The outlet was reportedly informed that Kingston’s mother, Janice Turner, was arrested during the raid.
The outlet adds that Turner is facing multiple charges, which include fraud and theft.
Additionally, TMZ noted that Kingston was not home during the raid but reports that he is allegedly another “target in the investigation.” According to the outlet, Kingston was sued in February for allegedly not paying for a $150,000 entertainment system.
The outlet adds that Dennis Card, a lawyer representing the company suing Kingston, was allegedly present during the raid. Entertainment Tonight reports that the company behind the suit is called Ver Ver Entertainment.
Additionally, the company allegedly installed a “colossal 232-inch TV” and “robust sound system” in Kingston’s home in December 2023. Kingston allegedly wired $30,000 to the company. However, the remaining balance for the installation was never received.
Furthermore, the outlet reports that the company is suing Kingston for allegedly using his relationship with Justin Bieber to obtain a lesser down payment on the system.
“[Ver Ver Entertainment asserts that Kingston] never had any intention of paying in full for the colossal TV and sound system,” the suit allegedly reads, per the outlet.
According to WPLG Local 10, on Thursday, Card shared a statement with reporters, which appears to connect the raid to the recent lawsuit.
“He basically has a sales pitch that he goes through to defraud people. He induces them into giving him really expensive things,” the lawyer alleged. “We know that our property is inside this house right here, so as soon as the raid takes place, we are going to have a crew of people in there to reassemble it and take it back to its rightful owner.”
Social media users reacted to the initial report about Kingston’s home in The Shade Room’s comment section.
Meanwhile, on Thursday afternoon, Kingston directly addressed the news reports with a message shared via his Instagram Story.
“People love negative energy!” he wrote.
From there, Kingston shared an update on his mother.
“I am good and so is my mother!.. my lawyers are handling everything as we speak,” he concluded.
Kingston isn’t the only celebrity whose home has been raided recently. As The Shade Room previously reported, In March, Diddy’s residences in Los Angeles and Miami became targets in a federal search.
