A Brief Recap Of Events Surrounding The Singer’s Arrest
As The Shade Room previously reported, Kingston initially made headlines on May 23. At the time, reports surfaced that his home in Southwest Ranches, Florida, had been raided.
Additionally, it was revealed that his mother had been arrested and hit with multiple fraud and theft charges.
Furthermore, at the time, it was speculated that the raid was sparked by Kingston’s inability to complete the payment on a home entertainment system. The musician reportedly paid $30,000 for a “colossal 232-inch TV” and “robust sound system” installed in his home in December 2023. However, Kingston reportedly failed to satisfy the total $150,000 amount.
After reports surfaced, Kingston took to social media to share that he and his mother were “good” and his lawyers were handling the allegations and subsequent raid and arrest.
However, later that evening, Kingston was reportedly arrested in California, per The Shade Room. At the time, CNN reported that arrest warrants had been issued for Kingston and his mother’s arrest on May 20.
The arrest warrants were reportedly prompted by the alleged million-dollar fraud scheme. At the time, AP News revealed that Kingston’s mother previously pled guilty to bank fraud in 2006. Meanwhile, the outlet added that Kingston was on two-year probation at the time of arrest for trafficking stolen property.
