#Roommates, I love lobster but not in the way that the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, or #PETA, does.
PETA recently asked Maine officials for permission to build a large grave to mark the site of a truck crash that resulted in thousands of lobsters spilling out onto a highway, according to Fox News.
The grave would memorialize the “countless sensitive crustaceans” who were killed on the August 22nd crash in #Brunswick, according to PETA. Authorities said 7,000 pounds of live lobsters were destroyed and at least 4,500 of them died.
PETA says the grave would remind everyone that going vegan is the best way to prevent such tragedies, and apparently Maine’s Department of Transportation is reviewing the request. PETA wants a 5-foot memorial for the lobsters on Route 1.
It wasn’t immediately clear how much the gravestone would cost if approved.
#Roommates, are you here for a memorial for the lobsters? Let us know!
