Following the breakup of #Quavo & #Saweetie, @tmz_tv released a video of the former couple having an altercation in an elevator. Speaking out for the first time since the release of the video, Saweetie spoke exclusively to the #TheShadeRoom.
On Thursday, she stated, “This unfortunate incident happened a year ago, while we have reconciled since then and moved past this particular disagreement, there were simply too many other hurdles to overcome in our relationship and we have both since moved on.” She continued, “I kindly ask that everyone respect my privacy during this time.”
As previously reported, law enforcement sources revealed that LAPD detectives have seen the video that they shared earlier this week, which showed an encounter with Saweetie and Quavo interacting in an aggressive manner. The site reports that now authorities want to meet with both parties to discuss what happened during that incident, according to TMZ.
The law enforcement source reportedly told the site, it could be considered a domestic violence incident where both parties are in the wrong. However, police want to determine what happened before and after the elevator footage was recorded.
In the video, Saweetie seemed to seemingly make a gesture towards Quavo before the rest of their altercation unfolded inside of the the elevator.
Most recently, it was announced that Warner Chappell Music has officially decided to extend its publishing deal with Saweetie—taking her music career to additional heights.
Speaking about the extension with Saweetie, Warner Chappell Music President of A&R, U.S., Ryan Press, in part said,
“We’ve been lucky enough to be on this incredible journey with Saweetie since the very beginning. We’re in the business of taking early bets on artists and helping develop them into global sensations, and that’s exactly the trajectory Saweetie is on.”
In March, the former couple sparked breakup rumors, when it was realized they no longer followed each other. Saweetie eventually confirmed the rumors were true, and Quavo followed up with the same sentiments.
