Salon Owner Gifts Former Employee Hair Salon, In Return For Donating Kidney

Acia Williams gave her former boss, Chet Bennett, a kidney, and in return he gave her a salon.

According to WJLA,

The two have been friends for about 20 years. The kidney donor managed the hair salon for the last eight years for the kidney recipient, who was on dialysis for a year, and in need of a kidney

“I’d been on dialysis for a little over a year,” said Bennett when he sought a kidney donor.”

Williams also stated that God told her to give the gift of life to her now former boss, once she found out that she was a match.

Monday (Feb 11th), the shop had a grand re-opening in D.C. that celebrated Acia, as the new owner.

“This is thank you. I can’t begin to thank you enough for you giving me life, but we can start with you making your dream a reality by having your own salon.”

Chet Bennett owns several salons and also a hair school.

Since the April 2019, the two have recovered well.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, more than 10 percent of American adults – about 20 million people — have chronic kidney disease. Dr. Poggio says 600,000 are on dialysis and 100,000 are on the waiting list for a kidney transplant. Yet only 16,000 transplants are done each year.

Also, a 1999 Landmark study determined that the long-term mortality rate of transplant recipients was 48 to 82 percent lower than for those on dialysis, according to Cleveland Clinic.
