Saks Fifth Avenue Collaborates with the number one hit TV series “Empire” on a collection called “Empire State Of Mind,” all inspired by the Lyon Family we all love to see.
Earlier this summer the announcement was made about the two joining forces and During NYFW, Saks Fifth Avenue hosted a major event to kick off their newest branded collection. The “Empire State Of Mind” collection embodies the looks of the fierce Lyon Family with designers from Jimmy Choo, Givenchy, MCM, Alexis Bittar, Cushnie et Ochs and many more.
The event took place at the Saks Fifth flagship store in NYC, where Terrence Howard and Trai Byers (Lucious son Andre) were there to celebrate the launch. They even came dressed as their character from the show.
According to fashionista.com, executive producer Lee Daniels, is honored to have his highly anticipated show debut their own collection. He revealed that actually used to “boost” from Saks Fifth as a teenager!
Daniels admits him and his real sister, named “Cookie”used to steal from the high-end labeled store as a teen, which is evidently how he came up with the character “Cookie” for Empire.
According to fashionista.com Daniels said: “Ghetto fabulous comes from an instinct sense of style,” he said. “And you don’t have to have money to be born with that. I think Saks Fifth Avenue is indicative of it and I am so so honored that we are having this event at a place that I used to boost from.”
Our favorite and queen sister of them all, Tarji P. Henson a.k.a “Cookie” wasn’t able to attend, but some of her other castmates from the show were in attendance. Gabourey Sidibe who plays “Becky,”Luscious Lyon’s assistant, and Grace Gealey who plays Anika “Boo Boo Kitty” Calhoun, were also at the launch.
If you think this is the end of their highly celebrated event, you’re wrong! Plastered curated designs of the “State of Mind” collection will be displayed in the windows of both flagship store’s of Saks Fifth Avenue in New York and in Beverly Hills from September 10- October 7.
But wait! There’s more! More events from the collection will be hosting a luxury men’s “made-to- measure suiting” showcase circulating in cities as in Atlanta, Beverly Hills, Chicago, Boston, Houston, San-Francisco, and Bal Harbour.
This first launch was of course a great way to hype the fans of the number 1 hit series for Season 2. Empire comes back on air on September 23, the same day the collection is released. The collection is definitely a preview into what you’ll expect the cast to wear during this season.
