Details On Garcia’s Arrest
Per TMZ, authorities detained Garcia at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in Beverly Hills, California, noting that in the state, law enforcement classifies any damage over $400 as a felony. The outlet further reported that the professional boxer appeared to be under the influence of alcohol and drugs. However, he complied with the police and left the location quietly.
According to ESPN, a watch commander from the Beverly Hills Police Department told the outlet that Ryan’s arrest came after the hotel accused him of causing $15,000 in damages to the property and his room.
After Ryan’s booking, he was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center for evaluation following complaints of a medical issue. His attorney, Darin Chavez, told ESPN that he could potentially face further charges related to public intoxication. Chavez later stated in a Saturday statement that Ryan’s arrest aligns with “an extraordinarily challenging time for him, as he has been dealing with devastating news regarding his mother’s health.”
“Ryan has been open about his struggles with mental health over the years, and at this time he is dealing with an immense emotional burden. The support and understanding from fans and the public are crucial as he navigates these personal challenges. We are working diligently to provide Ryan with the resources he needs. Our team is committed to ensuring that he receives the appropriate help and care to address both his immediate and long-term well-being. We ask for continued support and compassion as Ryan focuses on his family and his health at this time,” Chavez said in a statement.
Lt. Chris Coulter informed USA Today that Garcia has been scheduled for a court appearance, with the case set to be reviewed by the district attorney’s office for potential formal charges. However, Coulter noted that he does not have knowledge of the precise date.
TMZ reported that Ryan’s arrest stemmed from a welfare check conducted at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel on Wednesday (June 5), prompted by concerns from a family member. Although he appeared in good spirits during the check, moments later he was reportedly sen behaving badly. Consequently, the hotel banned him from consuming further alcohol.
