Earlier this month, it was announced that Jay-Z’s Roc Nation and the NFL teamed up to help bring positive change. Although the idea wasn’t accepted by everyone, the two major companies are continuing to push forward with their plans.
Roc Nation and the NFL just announced the official launch of “Inspire Change,” apparel and “Songs of the Season,” as a part of their new partnership. The apparel side of the venture will help to fund and support Inspire Change throughout the country.
According to the official announcement, proceeds will “support organizations committed to the key priorities of Inspire Change: education and economic empowerment, police and community relations, and criminal justice reform.”
The apparel will be designed by artists and released later this year.
When it comes to the “Songs of the Season,” portion of the venture, the initiative will highlight stars and emerging artists across all genres. Musicians will have the chance to “create and deliver a song to be integrated into all NFL promotions each month during the season. The songs will debut during an in-game broadcast and will be simultaneously released to all digital streaming platforms (DSPs) worldwide.”
All of the proceeds from the songs that will be created will, of course, go to “Inspire Change.”
Meek Mill, Rapsody, and Meghan Trainor have been announced as the first advocates and will perform a free concert at the NFL Kickoff Experience in Chicago, which will lead to the kick-off of the Green Bay Packers and Chicago Bears game.
When the partnership was first announced, Jay-Z received tons of backlash, as well as support from his peers within the industry. Eric Reid didn’t hold back as he voiced his opinion on the partnership, meanwhile, people like Diddy showed their support as he asked people to watch Jay-Z work his magic.
