Rihanna is about to have another award to add to her long list of accomplishments, but this one isn’t for her music! RiRi has been named the 2017 Harvard University Humanitarian of the Year and will accept the prestigious Peter J. Gomes Humanitarian Award next Tuesday at a ceremony on campus.
“Rihanna has charitably built a state-of-the-art center for oncology and nuclear medicine to diagnose and treat breast cancer at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Bridgetown, Barbados,” said Harvard Foundation director S. Allen Counter.
But that’s not all Rihanna has done #Roommates! According to People, Rihanna traveled to Malawi last month and met with educators, students, and government officials to help improve education. If you didn’t know, Rihanna is the ambassador of ambassador for Global Citizen and the Global Partnership for Education, a campaign that promises to provide better education in about 60 developing countries, mainly helping girls who don’t have access to education.
Rihanna also created her own charity organization called the Clara Lionel Foundation in honor of her grandmother and grandfather. The organization seeks to improve health, education and arts and culture around the world.
Go Rihanna!
