Trump Responds After Being Acquitted Of Impeachment Charges

If you thought that Trump was going to take the high road after being found not guilty of his impeachment charges—then you would be totally wrong. Shortly after the verdict was handed down, he quickly used his Twitter fingers to demonstrate his unparalleled brand of pettiness.

As we previously reported, Trump was acquitted on all impeachment charges brought against him and will continue to remain in office. He received enough senate votes of “not guilty” to keep him in the White House until the outcome of the 2020 presidential election.

Earlier today, the Senate officially voted to acquit Donald Trump on two articles of impeachment revolving around his July 25th phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. During the impeachment, Democrats pointed out a public transcript of the conversation, during which Trump encouraged Zelensky to announce an investigation into former Vice President Joe Biden and his son, Hunter Biden.

Following the verdict, Trump posted a video meme to his Twitter account with the words “TRUMP 4VA” emblazoned on a podium. The move was clearly what we’ve come to expect from him anytime he feels he’s won something.

The vote tally during the impeachment was as follows: with a vote of 52-48, Trump was found not guilty on the first article of impeachment, abuse of power—shortly after, he was found not guilty on the second article of impeachment, obstruction of Congress, with a vote of 53-47.

The House needed a two-thirds majority for a conviction and removal from office. It was the third time in U.S. history that a president had been impeached.
