Social media users are sharing their reactions to a year-old viral clip of Ray J and his niece Sy’Rai Smith. As The Shade Room previously reported, Smith is the 21-year-old daughter of Ray J’s sister, singer Brandy.
On Thursday, December 14, Ray J took to Instagram to share a resurfaced clip of an Ilivestream held by him and Sy’Rai. Similar footage from 9MagTV shows that the pair’s livestream appears to have occurred in March 2022.
Additionally, the 42-year-old captioned the Instagram video.
“This never gets old!!! — I LOVE YOU!! @syraismith – MY BEAUTIFUL NIECE!!! —- What yall think about the vocals?????” the singer wrote.
In the video, viewers watched as Smith instructed Instagram users to send a request if they were interested in joining the stream to sing live for Ray J.
“I’ll try to get as many people as I can,” Smith reassured viewers as one Instagram user joined their stream.
Both Smith and Ray J greeted the woman before asking which song of his she would be singing. The user chose the singer’s 2005 hit single, ‘One Wish.’

As The Shade Room previously reported, the father of two appeared alongside Pleasure P, Sammie, and Bobby Valentino for a Verzuz in 2022. At the time, the singer’s “One Wish” performance went viral.
At the time, Brandy poked fun at her brother for not taking her advice to savor his vocals ahead of his performance.
