If y’all thought you’d heard the last from
#RachelDolezal, then think again, y’all, because she is making her film debut next month! She is releasing a documentary called “The Rachel Divide” which is about how Dolezal, who changed her name to Nkechi Amare Diallo, and her sons have navigated through her transition into becoming a black woman.
Now get this, the film is set to premiere at the #TribecaFilmFestival before heading over to Netflix, y’all!
“In making the film, I came to a deeper understanding of the raw nerve that Rachel hits in our society, but I also learned that her motivations to identify as she does are far more complicated than most realize,” filmmaker Laura Brownson tells @Vulture. “Regardless of how people feel about Rachel, I hope the film will challenge audiences to think more deeply about race and identity in America.”
Dolezal sparked outrage when she “came out” as a transracial black woman in 2015 and still hasn’t been received well. Hopefully this documentary will answer the “How?” and “Why?” Questions that are burning in the back of our minds!
Will y’all be watching?
