Roommates, R. Kelly is not giving up on trying to get released from jail early! For the third time, he and his legal team are pleading with the judge in his case to let him out of jail, in fear that he may catch the coronavirus.
According to TMZ, Kellz’s lawyer filed new documents asking the judge to release his client pending his trial, and claiming that R. Kelly is “likely diabetic”. His lawyer claims the Bureau of Prisons “failed to disclose” his medical tests from March, which show he has underlying health condition.
Kelly’s layer also claims he has high cholesterol and high blood pressure, making him more susceptible to contracting the coronavirus while behind bars. The alleged prior health conditions also put R. Kelly at higher risk for complications if he tests positive for the virus.
This is R. Kelly’s third attempt at requesting an early release, but each time, he has come with a unique reason. As we previously reported, Kellz asked the judge in his case to release him due to the neglect he alleges he was experiencing behind bars. He claims the jail was not providing adequate materials for cleaning, including hand sanitizer.
The judge denied both attempts R. Kelly made last month, saying he is a flight risk, and expressing concern that he might intimidate witnesses upon release.
As of now, there is no word on the judge’s decision in this third filing, but we will keep you updated as the story develops, Roomies!
