This week the First Lady, Michelle Obama gave an outstanding speech at the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia that lit up social media.
One line in particular that stood out in the FLOTUS’s speech was, “I wake up every morning in a house that was built by slaves and I watch my daughters, two beautiful, intelligent, black young women, playing with their dogs on the White House lawn.”
Nonetheless, Fox News personality Bill O’ Reilly went along and tried to belittle Michelle Obama’s speech by stating that slaves were well fed and had decent lodgings.
Social media brought the fire to O’ Reilly as he caught himself trying to criticize our First Lady’s statement. One person to let Mr. O’ Reilly have a piece of their mind and gave him a little truth to it all was none other than Roots drummer, Questlove.
Without mentioning O’ Reilly’s name in a lengthy Instagram post he said, “I’d like to think most of you have common sense. But there is nothing more dangerous than a man in a suit pretending to be a journalist giving revisionist history on the ugliness that was slavery. What’s so fun and lighthearted about being shackled? being separated from your loved ones? Being molested and raped HOURLY, being branded with hot iron? being property?”
