Queen Latifah and Jill Scott will star in a new Lifetime original film about the water contamination crisis that has been going on in Flint, MI.
According to Deadline, Queen Latifah will serve an executive producer alongside, Craig Zadan, Neil Meron and Katie Couric.
Directed by Bruce Beresford and written by Barbara Stepansky, the film was inspired by the Time Magazine cover story, “The Toxic Tap,” by Josh Sanburn.
According to the synopsis, the story will follow “the true story of three women from Flint who sought justice following the wrongdoing committed against the residents of the city who were unknowingly drinking and using lead-laden water.”
Jill Scott will play one of the three activists, along with Betsy Brandt and Marin Ireland. Queen Latifah will play a “fourth resident, fighting to expose the poisoning of the community during the horrific events of the water crisis.”
Another big name that was previously attached to the film was Cher, but she had to pull of the film due to a family matter that prevented her from leaving Los Angeles.
