Last weekend it seemed like everyone traveled to Atlanta to take place in festivities for All-Star Weekend. While the weekend is officially over, many people on the innanet are still talking about what went down. Throughout the TL, everyone talked about celebrities in the club, how much money people had during the weekend, and all types of other shenanigans.
Outside of the parties, we can’t forget one of the most memorable events, which was Bleacher Report’s ‘Open Run’ two-on-two basketball match on Saturday, where the proceeds will be donated to HBCUs of the winners choice. Over 1 million viewers tuned in as Lil Baby and 2 Chainz went against Quavo and Jack Harlow and gave us the match-off we never knew we needed. Quavo and Jack dominated the court and won the game with the final score of won 21-7, which wasn’t surprising, but what Jack announced next may have taken some by surprise.
Jack went to Twitter to announce that he would be donating the cash prize of $500,000 to HBCUs in his home state of Kentucky, which are Kentucky State University and Simmons College Of Kentucky. Quavo made his selection to donate his portions of winnings to Clark Atlanta University and Spelman College in his home state of Georgia.
Many were excited about the announcement, including Simmons College President, Rev. Dr. Kevin Cosby. He spoke to WHAS11 about how he planned on using the funds to benefit students attending the college. He advised that the funds will go directly to the students through campus services, resources, and tuition assistance. Rev Cosby stated, “Investing in Simmons is an important initiative, and for Jack Harlow to do this — we never know the impact that one solitary gift may have not only on this generation but future generations.”
As of right now, it’s unclear how Clark Atlanta University and Spelman College will be using the funding for their students, but we will keep yall posted, Roomies!
Giving back now that’s what’s poppin’!!
