Quavo is putting fans’ concerns at ease and addressing a recent tweet of his about “taking Xanz.” The term is slang for Xanax, a medication used to “treat anxiety and panic disorders,” as per WebMD.
On the evening of August 27, Quavo took to X to share a brief tweet.
“I kno it’s been some years but now I’m taking Xanz,” the 32-year-old rapper wrote.
To date, the tweet has garnered over 1.7 million views and over 560 comments from fans who expressed concern for the rapper. According to the Addiction Center, Xanax is “extremely addictive.” Furthermore, the organization reports that the medication should “only be used under a doctor’s supervision.”
The “Rocket Power” rapper spoke exclusively with VIBE on Wednesday, a few days after sharing the above tweet. During the conversation, the 32-year-old directly addressed fans’ concerns regarding his words.
He explained that he is “fine.” Then, he told his fans they need to “listen” to the lyrics from his latest album, ‘Rocket Power.’ The album was released earlier this month, on August 18.
Additionally, the project is dedicated to Quavo’s late Migo bandmate, Takeoff, as previously reported by The Shade Room.
The rapper continued by explaining that he is currently “breaking down” his lyrics from the project on X, formerly known as Twitter.
“I’m fine. I’m okay. It’s just y’all gotta listen to my lyrics. Y’all ain’t listening to the lyrics. So right now, I’m breaking them down over Twitter. I might say a line, I might say a bar. But if you listen to the album, those are bars and lines that I’m actually displaying on my Twitter…”
Before wrapping up his thoughts, Quavo reassured his fans that he is doing “good.” Then, he thanked them for their “concerns.”
“But I’m good. Thank y’all for y’all concerns,” he said.
As The Shade Room previously reported, Quavo most recently made headlines when he was detained following an alleged robbery on a Miami yacht. At the time, it was reported that Quavo was a guest on the boat when two other men “became aggressive” with the captain and crew.
From there, the men allegedly verbally threatened the boat’s staff and stole the captain’s wallet, phone, and $3,500.
When police arrived on the yacht, the suspects and the other guests were detained.
However, the rapper’s lawyer later explained that he was “NOT mentioned in the police report narrative.”
“To be clear Quavo was NOT mentioned in the police report narrative. Not only was Quavo NOT arrested, he is not even listed as a witness to any alleged dispute. Ultimately, no one on the boat was arrested.”
