Protesters Demand Justice In Sandra Bland Case, Ask For Feds To Get Involved

Yesterday we reported on the breaking news of the Sandra Bland case. The Jury decided that there would be no indictments to the jail cell death involving Bland. The verdict didn’t sit well with activists, who went to seek justice elsewhere.

Protesters demanded that US Attorney, Loretta Lynch, get involved in the case. “The Sandra Bland case is just the latest in a string of injustices and miscarriages of justice in this country,” said activist Deric Muhammad.

Bland was only 28-years-old when she was pulled over for a traffic stop for failing to signal earlier this summer. What was supposed to be a simple situation, resulted in her body being found in her jail cell three days later. The cause, an alleged self-inflicted asphyxiation.

The Bland family has went forth and filed a wrongful death lawsuit in federal court against Texas officials. They have been given a trial date of January 2017. Protesters are planning to continue their efforts until Januarty, when the jury reconvenes.
