Producers Of “The Simpsons” Will No Longer Allow White Actors To Voice Characters Of Color

While the country is going through an overhaul and forcing others to recognize Black people and other people of color, it looks like some of our favorite shows are being modified, as a result. According to BuzzFeed, “The Simpsons” will no longer allow non-white characters to be voiced by white actors.

“Moving forward, “The Simpsons” will no longer have white actors voice non-white characters,” the producers stated.

Essentially, characters like Apu Nahasapeemapetilon, Dr. Hibbert, and Carl Carlson will no longer be voiced by white actors.

This comes five months after Hank Azaria announced he would no longer voice Apu, a recurring character whose portrayal was criticized for being very stereotypical..

Most recently,  Mike Henry, white actor who voices Cleveland Brown, on “Family Guy,” announcing he was also stepping down, and his role should be played by. a person of color.

Also, as we previously reported, actress Jenny Slate also abandoned her role on Netflix’s “Big Mouth”.

She was one of the first actors to announce her resignation, and gave a lengthy explanation about her voicing a black character has contributed to racism and white privilege.
