Since the passing of Prince many people have wondered who would be granted the rights to the late singers music.
Many rumors have been circulating on who would actually have those rights. However, it was recently announced that Universal Music Publishing Group is now the exclusive administrator of Prince’s entire catalog.
According to Complex, the company announced on Wednesday that they closed a deal with the late singer’s estate. The details about the deal have not been revealed, but a statement released by the company makes it clear that the deal covers his released and unreleased music.
Prince’s entire catalog consists of 35 albums and more than 1,000 songs. Later this month his new album, “Prince 4Ever” will release, and next year his classic album “Purple Rain,” will be rereleased, along with unreleased music.
David Renzar, the Chairman and CEO of UMPG said in a statement, “The fact that he is re-signing to Universal Music Publishing Group speaks to the dedication and commitment we can show to a world-class high caliber artist like Prince. We are thrilled to have concluded this deal and consider it a privilege to continue our long-term relationship with him.”
