Roomies, according to Ukrainian President Zelensky, at least 137 soldiers have been fatally wounded and 316 injured, CNN reports.
In a video posted to his Facebook account, Zelensky shared the tough news. Zelensky also stated, “The enemy has identified me as target number one and my family as target number two,” ABC News reports.
Minister of Ukrainian Defense Oleksiy Resnikov stated that there have been signals of new attacks to come. “The Kremlin is planning a new wave of attacks, including using paratroopers, but our army is ready to meet them,” he said.
As previously reported, President Joe Biden announced harsh sanctions on Russia’s economy and technology. These sanctions are seen as punishment for Russia, as they attacked Ukraine.
In his speech, Biden called out President Putin as the aggressor. “Putin is the aggressor. Putin chose this war. And now he and his country will bear the consequences,” Biden said. While speaking, Biden announced steps that will “impose severe cost on the Russian economy, both immediately and over time.” Biden also announced the sanctions on four banks and “corrupt billionaires” along with their families.
During the President’s speech, he also announced ground and air forces to NATO’s eastern flank, while saying our forces won’t engage in conflict, CNN reports. “Our forces are not and will not be engaged in the conflict,” he said. “Our forces are not going to Europe to fight in Ukraine but defend our NATO allies and reassure those allies in the east.”
President Biden also said that the actions of Putin would “end up costing Russia dearly, economically and strategically.”
