Many of us are still coming to terms that Muhammad Ali is no longer with us. His determination and will is something that will live on forever. President Obama offered his condolences today, and revealed that he actually has a pair of Ali’s gloves in his study in the White House, under Ali’s 1965 photo from when he beat Sonny Liston.
“Like everyone else on the planet, Michelle and I mourn his passing,” Obama said in a statement. “But we’re also grateful to God for how fortunate we are to have known him, if just for a while; for how fortunate we all are that The Greatest chose to grace our time.”
“Muhammad Ali shook up the world. And the world is better for it. We are all better for it. Michelle and I send our deepest condolences to his family, we pray that the greatest fighter of them all rests in peace.”
