Travel influencer Aanvi Kamdar recently passed away after falling into a gorge at a waterfall in India.
PEOPLE reports the 27-year-old fell as she attempted to create an Instagram reel on July 16.
The content creator, who currently has 292,000 Instagram followers, was reportedly visiting the Kumbhe waterfall. It is located roughly 80 miles from Mumbai. She gained popularity on social media for her travel and lifestyle tips. Authorities report she visited the site with seven friends when the accident occurred. A fun day quickly turned tragic when she reportedly lost her footing. Kamdar was shooting content when she plunged 300 feet to her death. Aanvi, who was also an accountant, “fell on the hard, slippery patch of rocks…in the valley.” A rescuer stated she “couldn’t be spotted initially.” Once she was located, “she was sent up using a stretcher attached to rappelling ropes.”
It took 56 people to recover her body. Several different agencies were involved in her rescue. Six individuals climbed down the hill, and 50 were “atop the hillock.” After about six hours, she was rescued. Aanvi didn’t die immediately from the fall. She was placed on a ventilator when rescuers reached her. She was then transported to Managon Taluka Government Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.
Kamdar made what would be her final post on July 15. She shared the top-five places to visit in India during the rainy season that were “cheap” and “not crowded.” Commenters under the post weighed in on the news of her death.
