Only days after the funeral of slain 18 year old African American boy Mike Brown, Rapper The Game releases a track featuring some of Hip Hop’s biggest names called, “Don’t Shoot”. The song is dedicated to Mike Brown and the many unarmed African American men that were killed by the police. This song is extremely powerful and it’s so wonderful to see the Hip Hop community take a unified stand against police brutality in our neighborhoods. The song features:
Rick Ross, 2 Chainz, Diddy, Fabolous, Wale, DJ Khaled, Swizz Beatz, Curren$y, Yo Got
ti, Problem, Tank, Ginuwine, and Tyrese.
The song is powerful! Here are a few noteworthy lyrics:
The Game:
It’s cold out there
Felt I should go out there
They left that boy 4 hours in the cold out there
Rapper Fabolous even addressed the #ALSICEBUCKETCHALLENGE that has been trending for the past month or so:
I see a lot of ice water tossed
I know its all for a cause
But my only question is
What we doing for the loss
Of Mike Brown cause right now
I challenge you
To use your talents to
Speak up
And don’t you ever let ’em silence you
