Alright #Roommates, by now you’re already aware that Popeyes is finally bringing back its chicken sandwich that literally caused a frenzy when it was released back in the summer. Well, in the company’s latest announcement about the sandwich’s return—they decided to throw a whole lot of shade at rival Chik-fil-A.
Popeyes trolling Chik-fil-A is nothing new and something that many find amusing online, so it was no surprise that some new shade was brewing. While announcing that the ridiculously popular chicken sandwich would return on Sunday, November 3rd, Popeyes also took the time to point out that Sunday is when Chik-fil-A is closed. In a visual meme posted by the company on social media, there is a Chik-fil-A sign with the words “closed on Sunday” underneath, right next to a Popeyes sign that reads “open on Sunday.”
You’ll recall that the company had to stop selling the sandwich because it ran out within a few weeks due to massive demand around the country. Popeyes promised that the sandwich would return—and the wait is almost over. To prepare for the demand and ensure that there will be no more running out and long lines, the company is set to hire 400 extra workers to keep things moving and keep the sandwich available.
Additionally, unlike last time, the chicken sandwich will be available every day for the foreseeable future. The popularity of the sandwich reportedly led to astonishing sales for the company’s most recent fiscal quarter, with estimates stating that it was having one of its best quarters in 20 years.
Roommates, are ya’ll ready to get your hands on the sandwich again?
