Polo G is speaking out more than a month after a video surfaced of his mother, Stacia Mac, shooting a firearm at his sister, Leilani Capalot.
The rapper opened up about the family incident while speaking on ‘The Breakfast Club’ in an interview published this week. For context, Stacia Mac shot at her daughter in April, but the video didn’t appear online until late June.
This marks the first time Polo G has opened up about what’s going on with his family members. He confirmed to Charlamagne Tha God that he does “intervene” when his mom and sister’s beef leaks onto social media platforms.
“For sure, imma always intervene. Like, I don’t wanna see no sh*t like that. So, imma always try to get in between it before it get too far,” Polo said.
But Charlamagne rebutted the “get too far” part of Polo’s answer, reminding the rapper that his mom and sister were “fighting and shooting at each other.”
“That’s normal to Chicago people,” Tha God joked, while Polo G let out a lil’ laugh and added, “I don’t know, man.”
Nonetheless, the rapper answered, “Yeah, for sure,” when asked if he thought his mother and sister’s riff could be resolved.
“We family. I feel like ’cause who I am, it’s just being broadcasted more and like everybody gon’ talk about it. But everybody family go through sh*t. That’s sh*t I’m accustomed to,” Polo G said.
DJ Envy jumped in, saying, “Minus the shooting,” but Charlamagne quickly interrupted, saying, “No, that’s normal to him,” and the whole room erupted in laughter.
Polo later agreed that he’d intervene by getting them in the space to talk. However, he clarified that though it’s an approach he wants to “get around to,” he’s “definitely letting it breathe a little more right now.”

The formerly viral clip of the mother-daughter shooting surfaced around June 21. Surveillance footage captured Stacia running Leilani out of her home, asking her if she’s “tough,” and telling her to get off the property before firing the weapon her daughter’s way.
Following the video’s surface, Polo G’s mom and Leilani exchanged heated words online about their perspectives on what happened. Mac claimed her daughter has been suffering from mental health issues for the past two years. Rather than receive treatment, Mac alleges Leilani has refused it and has been “self-coping/medicating” by drinking alcohol and “passing out everywhere.”
“You were having a manic episode and attacked me in my home,” the mom wrote on Instagram Story at the time.
Meanwhile, Leilani Capalot accused her mother of being jealous and wanting to be a “gang chief/thug so bad.” Moreover, the daughter claimed that her mother “attacked” her “verbally, emotionally, physically” and “consistently provoked” her. These actions, including allegedly having her luggage stolen, “triggered a manic episode,” Leilani admitted on X (formerly Twitter).

About a week after the shooting clip went viral, Polo G’s mom filed a restraining order against Leilani Capalot. In the paperwork, the mother alleged that she shot at her child as a “last ditch attempt” to ensure Leilani wouldn’t harm anyone in the home or herself.
She later posted a statement about the restraining order on Instagram, which prompted Leilani to pop off on the same platform.
