Police Identify The Man Who Allegedly Shot 2 Officers Wednesday Night In Louisville

TSR Updatez: A man is in custody today after two Louisville Metro police officers were wounded in a shooting Wednesday night in downtown Louisville.

Police have identified the man as Larynzo Johnson. Following his arrest, Johnson was charged with 14 counts of “wanton endangerment” on a police officer and two counts of assault on a police officer.

As of Thursday morning, Johnson’s bond had not been set and he won’t be arraigned until Friday, according to WLKY.

Protests erupted Wednesday after a grand jury failed to charge the three officers who killed Breonna Taylor with her death. One officer, Brett Hankison, was however charged with three counts of wanton endangerment for the bullets he fired off that put Breonna’s neighbors at risk.

Protesters took to the streets as the city’s curfew of 9 p.m. loomed Wednesday night. Shots rang out around 8:30 p.m.

“Both officers are currently undergoing treatment at University Hospital,” LMPD Interim Chief Rob Schroeder said at a news conference around 10:15 p.m. Wednesday. “One is alert and stable. One is undergoing surgery and is stable.”

Schroeder did not release the names of the injured officers.

It’s not actually clear if the shooting was related to any protests but videos circulating on social media showed protesters running away from the sound of nearby gunfire.

“I am very concerned about the safety of our officers,” Schroeder said.

The FBI tweeted that it is assisting LMPD in the shooting investigation.

Trump got fired up over the protests and made a few tweets in response to what was going on and sent his support to the officers in Louisville.

We’ll keep you posted on the major updates in this case.
