If you’re like most Americans you probably dread going to the doctor for STD testing. If that’s you, you might just be in luck! Planned Parenthood Los Angeles just launched a new mobile app for STD testing.
The app called Planned Parenthood Direct, allows its users to order confidential Chlamydia and Gonorrhea testing on their mobile phone. Currently, Chlamydia and Gonorrhea are the two most common STDs in the US.
The service will run you $149 and includes a home STD test kit that arrives in discreet packaging. All users have to do is mail the samples back to the lab and check their phone for the results.
If treatment is needed, the app would provide medication at your local pharmacy or Planned Parenthood.
“We understand that life gets busy, and this way, consumers can access STD testing without needing to make an appointment,” says Jill Balderson, vice president of health innovation at Planned Parenthood.
The service is currently only available to California residents and is free of charge through the Android and Apple App Store.
