In hip hop culture where there’s a “no-snitching” code, legendary producer Pharrell openly admits he would snitch if he had to.
He proudly stated that he is “not a tough guy” during a recent appearance on the “Drink Champs” podcast and explained he would snitch if he was in a position where his life was threatened.
We can appreciate a self-aware man and Pharrell is making no excuses–just straight up honesty.
“I’m not a tough guy, bro,” Pharrell said while retelling a story of when Lil Wayne took him to a crowded club in New Orleans, where people were strapped up.
“I really believe in paying taxes because when you pay taxes, it’s like, you should feel no kind of way dialing 9-1-1.”
Pharrell recalled another time when he recently went to a Miami recording studio and people were shooting outside of the establishment.
“Literally, I’m not a tough guy, I’m staying my a** inside and the f***ing FBI is on speed dial, bro. I’m not a f***ing tough guy,” Pharrell said. “You people say things about snitching… I’m f***ing snitching, bro! What are you talking about? Everybody plays their part, this is a movie, you guys, everybody plays their part. I am snitching! Don’t do nothing around me, I’m not built for the jail life. I am snitching!”
Skateboard P continued, “The f**k you mean? You can’t get mad at me. I have a purpose, I have to be me, I have to do my job, and I have to play my part in this movie. And my part is, I told you not to do that s**t, I told you I wasn’t built for this, I’m really sorry but this is your deal. ‘Your honor, jury, are you guys listening? I asked him not to do this and if he was gonna do it or she was gonna do it, don’t f***ing tell me.’”
Pharrell isn’t lying because we know not everyone is cut out for that life and it seems he’s not claiming to be something that he is not.
Pharrell always gave us the peace and love vibes anyway.
