What’s big sweetie?! That bag! Congratulations are in order for Saucy Santana, who signed his first major record deal with RCA records. The Shade Room obtained exclusive footage of the moment that the ‘Shisha’ rapper signed the deal surrounded by friends and loved ones.
Saucy Santana spoke candidly about the deal during an appearance on The Breakfast Club on Wednesday, revealing the struggles he’s had to overcome as an independent artist and a gay man in the rap community. Santana made one thing clear–it’s only up from here!
I feel like that was the only thing that was stopping me, kind of. I feel like I didn’t have that complete backing with a major label. I put in a lot of work, I worked really hard being an independent artist. But I feel like now with that major backing, I can clear certain samples, I could get this radio sh*t going, I can get these bigger artists. It’s up.”
Having built his career from the ground up, Santana stated that his decision to sign with RCA was in large part related to the label’s respect for his craft and hands-on approach to creating.
That’s why I went with them. When it comes down to TikTok dances, it’s me. When it comes down to videos, I’m telling them how I want my videos. When it comes down to what songs are coming out, I was doing that. When it comes down to writing my music–I was writing songs, top to bottom–I let them know that I need somebody that understands Santana, but wants to help elevate and push Santana to the forefront.
The journey to stardom hasn’t been easy, according to Santana, but he sure made it look fun! Saucy Santana won over the hearts of social media users through his relationship with the City Girls, hilarious conversations with Yung Miami and eventually the quotable bars on his music. The gworls have been running up his songs like “Material Girl” and “Walk” on TikTok, making Santana an innanet sensation.
