Judge Joseph Wapner of #ThePeoplesCourt passed away today at the age of 97 after being hospitalized due to breathing problems. His condition worsened and the judge later died in hospice care.
Wapner’s show first aired in 1981 and was arguably the very first reality television show, so he pretty much paved the way for many other reality and court tv shows. We all know we can’t live without some #JudgeMathis and JudgeJudy!

“The show became a touchpoint for pop culture. It was parodied on “Saturday Night Live” and many other shows. Dustin Hoffman’s “3 minutes to Wapner” in “Rain Man” became an iconic expression.”
Wapner leaves behind a wife of over 70 years and three children. #RIP!
