People Want Answers For A Viral Video Of Atlanta Cops Pulling A Couple Out Of Their Vehicle After Curfew Was Enacted (Video)

A video circulating on social media of a live news clip showing a young, Atlanta couple being pulled out of their vehicle by a gang of cops has people demanding answers.

The video was captured by CBS 46 Saturday night, reportedly after curfew was enacted in the city. It wasn’t immediately clear why officers targeted the couple, who appeared to be sitting in traffic, but people are accusing the cops of harshly enforcing the city’s 9 p.m. curfew on the couple.

The young woman in the vehicle is reportedly a Spelman College student. Spelman’s SGA twitter account identified the woman as Taniyah Pilgrim and her boyfriend as Messiah Young.

The school’s SGA issued the following statement on the arrests of Pilgrim and Young: “Spelman’s 79yh Student Government Association (SGA) is deeply disturbed at the excessive force that the Atlanta Police Department exercised against our Spelman sister Taniyah Young, and Morehouse brother, Messiah Young. We are actively communicating with Spelman’s senior administration and student leaders across the Atlanta University Center (AUC) to retrieve all of the facts on this developing case and keep you abreast.”

The video was shared widely across social media overnight but Atlanta police have not publicly addressed the matter and it wasn’t immediately clear what charges, if any, the couple were being held on.

A search in Fulton County’s inmate system didn’t turn out results for either Pilgrim or Young.

We’ll keep you posted on any updates.
