If you were on Twitter today, then you likely saw that California Senator Kamala Harris was trending.
If you’re wondering why, well now that former vice president Joe Biden seems to be the Democratic party’s nominee for the 2020 presidential election, all eyes are now on him to choose a running mate and a large group of Twitter users think Kamala should be his pick.
Kamala, who ended her presidential campaign months ago, officially endorsed Biden back in early March. There was already buzz about Kamala being a top pick for vice president because she made some notable fundraising moves today that could put her in that seat, including fundraising for the Democratic National Committee.
But there’s a growing chorus on Twitter that also sees Kamala as Biden’s obvious choice, which obviously if elected would make her the first black woman to be nominated for vice president.
“Hey @joebiden. Your co-pilot need to be Kamala Harris. We need the absolute best to take (out) Trump. She’s strong, grounded, smart, compassionate & proactive leader who has her finger on the pulse of the nation. Second best won’t do. America needs Kamala Harris. #BidenHarris2020,” one Twitter user wrote.
“Since Bernie Sanders has dropped out, JOE BIDEN IS NOW THE PRESUMPTIVE NOMINEE! Time to kick it into high gear. First order of business: ANNOUNCE KAMALA HARRIS AS YOUR RUNNING MATE!,” another person tweeted.
Kamala Harris also said she would be “honored” if she is considered as a potential running mate for Joe Biden during her appearance on “The View” Wednesday, even though she added that she’s full-time focused on addressing the current pandemic.
Several opinion pieces on political sites also surfaced that Biden’s best option is Kamala. Well, roommates, only time will tell if the people are right.
