So a petition is currently going around and it’s calling for the NBA to change its logo from Jerry West’s silhouette, to the late Kobe Bryant’s.
Kobe Bryant, who is considered to be one of the GOATS in the history of basketball lost his life in a helicopter crash in the California hills Sunday.
Nick M, the person who started the petition, took to change.org to say, “With the untimely and unexpected passing of the great Kobe Bryant please sign this petition in an attempt to immortalize him forever as the new NBA logo.”
The current NBA logo of Jerry West’s silhouette has been the same since it was created in 1971. As of now, it is unclear of changing the NBA logo is even an option for the organization.
Jerry West nor the NBA has commented on this petition, however, this is what he had to say about Kobe’s passing:
“This loss of Kobe, Gianna, and everyone on board, is beyond tragic and incomprehensible,” he said in a statement. “I will love Kobe forever and always cherish the time that I spent with him.
“I watched him grow from an energetic kid into the man he became, making a difference in so many people’s life. He has left the world a better place.”
