People Are Really Blaming Beyoncé For Beto O’Rourke’s Loss

As we’ve seen #Roommates, when it comes to elections every vote counts. Over the past few weeks, we’ve seen dozens of celebrities out here campaigning for some of these politicians to secure some much needed seats up on the hill. Beyoncé took to social media midday Tuesday, to endorse Senate hopeful Beto O’Rourke, but it wasn’t enough for him to win the election against Ted Cruz.

She posted a photo wearing a “Beto for Senate” cap and wrote, “We can’t voice our frustrations and complain about what’s wrong without voting and exercising our power to make it right. We need you.”

What’s interesting about this is that Beyoncé is receiving some backlash on Twitter for putting her endorsement photos up after many people had already voted earlier in the day.

“Can I just say I am INCREDIBLY disappointed that Beyoncé decided to use her platform for Beto…..hours before the polling station closed. This should have been done weeks ago…”

“Let’s be real, Beto’s loss is really Beyoncé’s fault. She tweeted way too late in the game. We need celebrities to take their responsibility to save us way more seriously. Obvi.”

“To be clear, just because I brought it up earlier, I don’t think Beyoncé would have had a meaningful impact on the election if she had endorsed earlier, Beto p. much already had that demographic. I just think late afternoon on election day is weird timing as a political move.”

“(1/2) Beyoncé endorsing Beto the same day as the election versus her endorsing earlier wouldn’t have made much a difference. Majority of folks who are influenced by Bey had already voted or had their mind made up about who they were or were not voting for.”

“(2/2) We also have to be cognizant that Texas is a red state that is following this wave of “anti-celebrities in politics”, even though “they” elected and consistently support one. Same thing for Gillum in Florida. His campaigning with Obama closer to end may have hindered him.”
