Paul Walker’s brother Cody and his wife Felicia are honoring his late sibling’s name by naming their newborn son after him; the couple told PEOPLE.
On April 30, Paul Barrett “Bear” Walker was born weighing 7 lbs., four oz., according to the outlet.
Just a day after the infant’s birth, the couple named the boy after Cody’s brother, the late actor Paul Walker. He said it was important to him to carry on the name.
He added that the name “Paul Walker” goes back in their family for four generations.
“Within the family, he went by ‘little Paul’ or ‘Paul 4,’ even though he quickly outgrew our father in height. It was important to me to have that name carry on.”
Cody and Felicia reportedly refrained from learning of the baby’s sex until birth. They had similarly done so with their other two children.
Cody, who lives in Arizona with his family, commemorated the moment of his son’s birth on nearly the 10th anniversary of Paul Walker’s death, he told PEOPLE.
“This November will mark ten years since we lost my brother, Paul, and I just felt now was the appropriate time,” Cody said.
Additionally, he explained that he and Paul’s other brother Caleb are now done having kids.
Meanwhile, Cody and brother Paul’s former Fast & Furious co-star Tyrese Gibson and Chris Lee are further honoring the late actor with FuelFest.
Portions of proceeds from the car and motorsports festival will go directly to Reach Out WorldWide, a nonprofit Paul founded in Jan. 2010.
Cody calls the organization an important “part of Paul that he left behind.”
“It’s important to so many to see that part of his legacy live on,” he told PEOPLE. “Since Paul’s passing, ROWW has continued to assist communities in natural disaster zones in 13 countries, with over 79 deployments and over 63,000 volunteer hours logged.”
As a passenger in a speeding car, Paul died in a single-vehicle collision on November 30, 2013. His father and daughter have since filed separate wrongful death lawsuits against Porsche, which resulted in settlements.
