Recently there were rumors of a sequel to the famed 1988 film Coming to America. An alleged tweet from a page that many people thought belonged to Eddie Murphy caused everyone to get excited.

Now it looks like the sequel to the classic film may actually happen.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Paramount is taking the first steps to making that sequel a reality. They have hired the film’s original writers, Barry Blaustein and David Sheffield, to pen the potential sequel.

Although things are still in the early stages, Kevin Misher is attached to produce as well.

At the time it is unclear if Eddie Murphy will reprise his iconic role as Prince Akeem.

In the original 1988 film Murphy’s character, Prince Akeem, left his home of Zamunda and traveled to Queens, NY in search of a wife in order to escape an arranged marriage.

While there he falls in love with his boss’ daughter, who eventually becomes his wife.

The film also starred, Arsenio Hall, James Earl Jones, John Amos, and Shari Headley.
