Before there was Kevin Hart, Martin Lawrence or even a Will Smith, there was Richard Pryor! He was the G.O.A.T. and has paved the way for so many comedians today.
As we all know, Mike Epps is set to portray the legendary comedian in the upcoming biopic, and now Oprah Winfrey and Eddie Murphy have joined the cast! Directors on board are Lee Daniels and Danny Strong from Empire as well as Bill Condon from Dreamgirls, so you know this movie will be amazing!
Some of you may know that Richard Pryor is the reason Eddie Murphy decided to become an entertainer in the first place! He’s a stan, chile, so one can only imagine how honored he must be to be playing Pryor’s father LeRoy “Buck” Pryor.
Richard had a troubled childhood, but as you can see, the man built an empire from it! Eddie and Richard had become close before Pryor’s passing, so we can’t wait to see how Eddie relates his relationship with Richard back into his role. Oprah has been cast to portray Pryor’s grandmother who was also a brothel-owner and Kate Hudson will also appear as Jennifer lee Pryor, the comedian’s wife!
A film detailing the life of this fantastic contributor of Black entertainment could not have come at a better time. Richard Pryor was funny as hell and we cannot wait to see the movie and kii kii at his legendary stand-up. Roomates, do you think Eddie Murphy’s performance will be Oscar-worthy? It’s crazy that he’s never won one!
