Alfonso Ribeiro has sparked reactions after briefly speaking on Tyler Perry.
On Monday, May 27, a user on X, formerly known as Twitter, took to the platform to share a statement mentioning both men.
“@tylerperry needs to revamp @alfonso_ribeiro career, I just know he could,” the user, whose handle is @TRUlydgaf, wrote.
Then, on Tuesday, May 28, the user’s tweet appeared to catch Ribeiro’s eye. Additionally, he tweeted brief words in response.
“I don’t need or ever want that man to do anything for me,” Ribeiro replied.
Ribeiro’s brief statement, which appeared to show disdain for Perry, prompted immediate reactions on X. Some users openly wondered why Ribeiro might dislike the fellow actor and director.
Meanwhile, similar reactions to Ribeiro’s statement about Perry continued in The Shade Room’s comment section.
As of Tuesday afternoon, Ribeiro has yet to clarify or expound on his sentiments about Perry. Additionally, Perry has yet to react publicly to Ribeiro’s comments.
As The Shade Room previously reported, earlier this month, Ribeiro made a surprising revelation about his acting career while speaking with Closer Weekly.
Ribeiro explained that he has “great memories” of his time working on the ‘Fresh Prince’ set. However, his role as Carlton on the show ultimately cost him his acting career.
“Playing Carlton on Fresh Prince became a sacrifice,” he explained. “I used to always say doing Carlton was the greatest and worst thing that ever happened to me. It was one of the greatest roles that I ever was fortunate enough to play, but it was also the role that stopped me from acting again because people couldn’t see me as anything else. The sacrifice was not having an acting career anymore.”
Despite his acting career apparently taking a hit, Ribeiro would go on to direct and write in various TV shows, which included Perry’s series, ‘Meet The Browns,’ per ABC.
At this time, it remains unclear how the pair may have interacted on the show’s set or to what capacity.
