South Park Addresses The Ozempic Craze
As previously reported by The Shade Room, Lizzo has always encouraged women to love their bodies. Additionally, the singer has shunned fat-shamers. However, ‘South Park’ creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker seemingly twisted her positive message for a laugh.
In the controversial episode, all the female characters begin taking Ozempic. They lost massive weight but claim they exercise to achieve their slimmer physiques. The women strut around in crop tops, showing off their chiseled abs.
Randy gives in to peer pressure and tries weight loss drugs.

Additionally, the crazy character Randy joins in on the Ozempic craze. Cartman, the most iconic character, also fiends for the medication. However, his insurance refuses to pay since he doesn’t have diabetes. Cartman is unable to cover the cost of meds himself, so he is prescribed ‘Lizzo.’ It is an alternative drug for “poor” people who can’t afford Ozempic.
This medication makes people disregard their health. Furthermore, the characters won’t exercise and continue to eat junk food. Moreover, ‘Lizzo’ makes the prescribers see themselves as perfect just as they are, even if their bodies are unhealthy.
“Lizzo” Weight Loss Drug
A commercial to promote the drug within the episode featured two women walking in a park. One explains that she has been using “Lizzo,” stating, “I controlled all my cravings to be thinner with Lizzo.” Then the melody of the Ozempic theme song plays. However, the words are replaced with “Lizzo.”
“O-O-O- it’s Lizzo,” a male voice sang.
A narrator pops in as visuals of the same woman performing daily activities are shown. “FDA approved Lizzo makes you feel good about your weight,” the voiceover says. “And it costs 90% less than Ozempic.”
“I’ve lowered my standards and my expectations,” the woman says, standing in an art gallery. The narrator stated case studies revealed that “70% of patients on Lizzo no longer cared how much they weighed.”
“I don’t give two s****!” the woman said.
Additionally, the writers insinuated that the musician’s music was terrible.
At the end of the commercial, the woman said, “Ask about the power of not giving a f*** with Lizzo.”
Do you think the show’s brutal shots at the singer were funny or distasteful?
