Iran Officially Issues An Arrest Warrant For Trump Over The Death Of Qasem Soleimani

Roommates, Trump is having a very serious and extremely controversial start to the week. Iran has officially issued an arrest warrant for Trump for his alleged involvement in the murder of Qasem Soleimani.

Iran has officially issued an arrest warrant for Donald Trump regarding an air drone strike that killed top Iranian general Qasem Soleimani back in January, according to the semi-official Fars news agency. Trump, along with 36 others, have been issued arrest warrants in relation to the death of Soleimani, who was a commander of the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC)—and Tehran attorney general Ali Alqasi Mehr said Trump was at the top of the list.

Mehr went on to state that Trump would soon be prosecuted once his presidential term possibly ends this November. Iran also said it had asked Interpol to issue a Red Notice for the 36 other individuals, though it was unlikely that Interpol would grant that request. Additionally, Interpol said it “would not consider requests of this nature.” Explaining that it was not in accordance with its rules and constitution, which states “it is strictly forbidden for the organization to undertake any intervention or activities of a political, military, religious or racial character.”

Meanwhile, U.S. Special Representative for Iran, Brian Hook, referred to the announcement as a “political stunt” during a joint press conference with the Saudi Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Adel al-Jubeir.

“It’s propaganda that we’re used to. This has nothing to do with national security, international peace or promoting stability, so we see it for what it is — it’s a propaganda stunt that no one takes seriously and makes the Iranians look foolish,” Hook said.

Soleimani was killed in a U.S. drone strike at Baghdad International Airport in January along with five others, including Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, the deputy head of the Iran-backed Iraqi Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF.)
