Odell Beckham Jr.’s name has come up as a suspect in an assault investigation after a woman went to the police alleging that he placed his hand around her neck while they were at a popular restaurant in West Hollywood, Los Angeles.
But now, he’s denying the allegations and the restaurant owner says there’s no evidence of any altercation.
Law enforcement told the outlet that the alleged incident took place at the restaurant Delilah several weeks ago. The woman is alleging that OBJ went up to her and grabbed her throat with “light pressure.”
However, a representative for Odell says they were not even aware of an investigation because they were not contacted by police, and added that OBJ is innocent.
Sources reportedly told the site that the woman and OBJ remained in the restaurant after the alleged incident without any further altercation occurring. She filed a police report a few days later.
TMZ spoke with the owner of the restaurant, who said:
“We were contacted about an investigation and reviewed the videos; the claim is false. There is no evidence of this person even being in the area where she claims the incident occurred.”
TMZ cited sources in saying that both the woman and Odell remained at the venue throughout the night after the alleged altercation without further incident.
Police met with the accuser a few days later and she filed a report.
The accusations come only days after Beckham was announced as the newest star wide receiver for the Baltimore Ravens after signing a one-year deal worth up to $18 million, the outlet reports.
The 30-year-old, who was a first-round pick back in 2014, is set to make his big return to the field this season after missing all of last year following an ACL tear injury he suffered in the Los Angeles Rams’ Super Bowl win over the Cincinnati Bengals.
