TSR Exclusive: Roommates, a lot of people were outraged after a video of a female New York Police Department officer pushing what appears to be a minor out of a subway station in Brooklyn went viral.
Many who watched the video labeled the incident a clear abuse of power on the officer’s part and even suggested that the officer had bullied the teen girl. You can watch the video below:
There were conflicting reports about why the girl was removed from the subway and now, the NYPD has released a statement obtained by The Shade Room saying the video does not show the entire incident.
“The video posted on social media did not record the entire incident, specifically it did not show the female attempt to jump over the turnstile without paying the fare,” said Lt. John Grimpel. “As a result of this action, the officer approached the female and instructed her to properly enter the system by swiping a MetroCard. She was asked multiple times to pay the fare which she refused and was physically removed from the Transit System. A summons was not issued in regard.”
Some still feel the officer’s actions were inappropriate for the situation at hand and didn’t require the officer to get physical with the young lady. What are your thoughts, Roomies?
