NYPD Officers Rally In Support Of Colin Kaepernick

A group of current and former members of the New York City Police Department rallied together today in support of getting Colin Kaepernick another job in the NFL. According to ESPN, the gathering took place in Brooklyn with about 75 officers wearing black “#imwithkap” T-shirts.

As you may recall, Kaepernick was the starting quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers. He became a controversial figure last year after refusing to stand for the national anthem in protest against social injustice. In March he became a free agent, but has yet to get picked up any another team in the league.

Retired officer Frank Serpico, who played Al Pacino in the 1973 movie “Serpico,” was also attendance. “He’s trying to hold up this government up to our founding fathers,” he told reporters.

Sgt. Edwin Raymond added, ”Until racism in America is no longer taboo, we own up to it, we admit it, we understand it and then we do what we have to do to solve it. Unfortunately we’re going to have these issues.”
