A man in North Carolina just came up on almost $9 million for his wife cheating! According to CNN, Keith King filed an “alienation of affection” suit after he caught his wife, 33-year-old Danielle, in bed with another man,… and he won!
In the lawsuit, King claimed he was happily married until his wife’s lover came in to the picture and ruined it all. “I’ve compared it to like a nuclear bomb going on around my surroundings,” King said. “My marriage was murdered.”
The judge agreed and ordered the other man to pay $2.2 million in compensatory damages and $6.6 million in punitive damages. While this may sound like a come up, some people argue that alienation of affection laws are outdated and based on when a married woman was considered her husband’s property.
Alienation of Affection laws still exist in six states.
