On the latest episode of ‘Stepping Into The Shade Room,’ former ‘Real Housewives of Potomac’ star Nneka Ihim reflects on her time on the show and opens up about tension with fellow castmates. Additionally, Ihim gets candid and shares her thoughts on the colorism accusations against the cast with host Thembi.
Here’s How The Accusation Claims Against The ‘Real Housewives Of Potomac’ Cast Began
Ihim began her journey in the spotlight as a lawyer and entrepreneur. According to Bravo TV, Ihim joined ‘RHOP’ in 2023, just ahead of the show’s eighth season. However, colorism accusations plagued the show’s cast before Ihim joined.
As The Shade Room previously reported, the accusations began to fly after the sixth episode of the show’s seventh season. At the time, cast member Ashley Darby decided to play a “prank” on Candiace Dillard Bassett and Wendy Osefo. To note, Bassett and Osefo are both darker-skinned women on the show.
Darby reportedly made the ladies share a bed while the cast was on vacation in Miami, Florida.

In response, Darby denied the accusations, per The Shade Room. However, the speculation continued, and the cast even sat down to discuss the topic during part two of the reunion for the seventh season of ‘RHOP.’

Nneka Ihim Shares Her Thoughts On The Matter
During her conversation with Thembi, Ihim explained that she never “personally” experienced colorism while on the show.
“When I came in, I had heard about all the colorism stuff, so I came in with my eyes open,” Ihim explained. “I was ready, like, ‘Let somebody try me…’ But I haven’t personally experienced it, right? And it doesn’t mean that it hasn’t happened to anyone else… [but] me, personally, I haven’t experienced it with the ladies.”
Instead, Ihim explained that she’s experienced “an adverse effect to the colorism issues” due to her association with the lighter-skinned women on the show.
