Ever since Instagram announced that it would be hiding “likes” on user posts, there have been many strong opinions on the matter—and one of the most vocal was from Nicki Minaj. After expressing her initial frustration, Nicki recently took to social media to add a few more thoughts.
Earlier this month, popular social media platform Instagram announced that it will be hiding “likes” on user posts—and as you can imagine many people were not very happy about it. Nicki Minaj was one of the more vocal celebrities who expressed her opinion and she recently added a bit of insight into Instagram algorithm changes as well.
In a post on Twitter, Nicki wrote the following:
They took away your engagements in the first place by disrupting the algorithm. Then they boost it to show you how much better this new iPhone is. I mean how much better this new IG feature is.—lemme guess, u don’t believe your iPhone messes up when the new iPhone comes out.
Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri explained the changes this way:
“The idea is to try and depressurize Instagram. Make it less of a competition. Give people more space to focus on connecting with people that they love, things that inspire them. But it’s really focused on young people. We have to see how it affects how people feel about the platform, how they use the platform, how it affects creator ecosystem, but I’ve been spending a lot of time on this personally.”
It will be interesting to see how these new changes on Instagram impact the overall platform…for better or for worse.
Roommates, do you agree with Nicki Minaj?
