Now that Nicki Minaj is free from police custody in Amsterdam, she has continued to speak out on social media. The ‘Super Bass’ rapper specifically recalled when Ari Lennox was arrested in the city in 2021.
Per The Shade Room, Nicki Minaj was detained in Amsterdam on Saturday (May 25) for “suspicion of extorting soft drugs.” Hours later, the ‘Super Bass’ rapper was released and traveled to Manchester to continue the European leg of her ‘Pink Friday 2’ tour.
On Sunday, Minaj hopped on X, formerly known as Twitter to respond to an old post about Ari Lennox’s arrest in Amsterdam in 2021. According to Hot New Hip Hop, Lennox was reportedly arrested in the city for disorderly conduct. However, the singer accused authorities of racism and discrimination, claiming that she was racially profiled.
Minaj responded to the post about Lennox’s incident stating that it could have resulted in a tragic Sandra Bland case.
“She was “full of emotions.” She was arrested b/c she was full of emotions in AmsterDAM. Hmmmmm interesting. I didn’t know this was a “thing” there. Who spoke up for her? Could’ve easily been another Sandra Bland incident. I’m so happy she made it out alive & well,” Minaj wrote on X.
Following her release from police custody in Amsterdam in 2021, Ari Lennox went on a full rant on Twitter. Furthermore, the ‘Pressure’ musician explained the incident and told her fans that she wasn’t doing well after the situation.
“My only regret is how I reacted to the racism and discrimination that I experienced. I would like to explain what happened to me but KLM has made it clear that they never cared to hear it from the jump. It’s painful being silenced like this. It’s painful what I went through. I’m not ok,” Lennox said in a post.
Shortly after her statement, Lennox provided her fans with an update on her well being.
“Hey loves I’m safe. Thank you so much for your prayers and love,” Lennox stated.
As The Shade Room previously reported, Nicki Minaj hopped on Instagram Live to document her arrest in Amsterdam on Saturday (May 25). The ‘FTCU’ artist has been released by authorities after being arrested for drug possession.
Nicki spoke about the international encounter after on X. She explained that she believed several people were being paid “big money” to sabotage her tour. She then revealed that the issue was only delaying her from flying to Manchester, England for her show.
When the Queen landed in Manchester, she was surprisingly met by her army of fans known as The Barbz. Several supporters stood outside her hotel and happily chanted, “Nicki’s Free.” She joined Instagram Live again to document the moment as she yelled back to the group telling them she “loves them so much.”
