Nickelodeon reportedly has some ’90s nostalgic magic up its sleeve! Word on the street is Nickelodeon has been meeting up with Emily Kapnek, the original creator of “As Told By Ginger” to bring the show back and is now amongst Hey Arnold! As resurrected Nick TV shows!
ATBG made its debut in 2000 and ran for three seasons. In case you missed that time in TV history, it was a cartoon that follows the up-and-down life of Ginger Foutley. Ginger was a grade schooler who was on a great search to find her place in this crazy, confusing world. Ginger either caused, experienced, or featured death, depression, and breakups, amongst many other life examples; that’s what made it more relatable and prone to have good viewership.
MoviePilot reports that “the reboot will begin right where As Told By Gingerleft off, with the cast in high school.” Reportedly, “The new series won’t be riddled with nostalgic references, though. Like the Hey Arnold! project, Nickelodeon wants to bring in a new generation of viewers.”
“You have to remember people who are going to watch really don’t have a recollection of As Told By Ginger. You have to make it relevant to them but also nod to the audience that is going to be interested,” Russell Hicks, Nickelodeon Group’s president of content development and production told MoviePilot.
How many roommates are excited to have ATBG back on the screen?! Let’s chat!
