Nickelodeon Announces ‘Are You Afraid Of The Dark?’ Revival With New Cast

On today’s episode of “what are they rebooting next?” we have a #Nickelodeon classic. For a lot of 80s and 90s kids, Saturday nights meant chillin’ on the couch with a few snacks and watching that solid #SNICK lineup.

The best shows included #AllThat, #KenanAndKel, and if you were brave enough to stay up– #AreYouAfraidOfTheDark?

Just like “All That,” Nick is giving new life to the Midnight Society by making “Are You Afraid of the Dark?” a new limited series, which will consist of three hour-long episodes, @variety reports.

The show will premiere this October, starting with a terrifying tale of the “Carnival of Doom.”

The original series was created by D.J. MacHale and Ned Kandel and ran as an anthology series on Nick between 1992 and 1996. It was set around a group of teenagers who called themselves the Midnight Society and would meet weekly at a secret location in the woods to tell scary stories.

The show was first revived in 1999 for two more seasons with new writers and showrunners.

The new members of the Midnight Society for this updated series have been named as Gavin, played by Sam Ashe Arnold; Akiko, played by Miya Cech; Louise, played by Tamara Smart; Graham, played by Jeremy Taylor; and Rachel, played by Lyliana Wray.

As far as the premiere episode, Nickelodeon announced that “Blindspotting” star Rafael Casal will join the cast as The Carnival of Doom’s ringmaster, Mr. Tophat.

This new limited series is being produced by ACE Entertainment, with ACE founder Matt Kaplan and Spencer Berman in the roles of executive producers.

It will be interesting to see the new series and how Nickelodeon reimagines “Are You Afraid of the Dark?” for the kids of 2019.

Roommates, are you here for this reboot? Which “Are You Afraid of the Dark?” episode do you remember the most? Let us know!
